Bio

Ginger Williams maintains a busy performance schedule as a professional violist and violinist. Her parents were baffled when, at age 10, she came home from a music demonstration at school and told her parents she wanted to play the "violasaurus". Her primary viola instructors include Dr. Matthew Dane, Susan Dubois, Jeff Cowen, and Matt Diekman. Additionally, she has performed in masterclasses for numerous violists, including Sheila Browne, and her chamber music coaches have included Greg Sauer and Dr. Peter Rovit. Along with husband M. Brent Williams, she was the founding violist of the string quartet Cluster Chord, and after a time she traded positions with the group’s second violinist. Additionally, her chamber music performances have included guest stints with the award-winning chamber ensemble enhake (
www.enhake.com), guest appearances on faculty recitals at Valdosta State University and Fort Lewis College, and the Azalea String Quartet. She currently performs as part of the Animas Quartet.

She has performed with numerous orchestras, including the San Juan Symphony (CO), Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra (FL), Valdosta Symphony Orchestra (GA), Albany Symphony Orchestra (GA), Lawton (OK) Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast (FL). Additionally, she has been on the faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (MI), Katzin Music, and Charlie Rayl Music Lessons. She participated in the Sound Encounters summer festival (KS) and Chapel Hill Chamber Music Workshop (NC).

In addition to her classical work, some of Ginger's favorite musical experiences have been recording with many bands and playing with the Starlight Mints at SXSW  and the Troubadour.
